INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

We will close Smarty Pants if there is inclement weather that will prevent us from performing a typical school day (ice storm, Snow storm, unsafely cold weather, etc).  

 

There will be NO REDUCTION OF TUITION.   

 

We will notify parents vie email and Brightwheel by 6:00am.

In Maryland, preschools do not have any requirements for a total number of days of attendance like public schools, so it is not a requirement to add days to the schedule to make up “lost” days.

 

It is important to note that if FCPS adds days to the schedule, Smarty Pants will NOT be adding days to OUR schedule. 

 

However, if your family has missed more than FIVE days this year, I will credit you for the days beyond five due to an excessive amount of missed days.  For example, Tommy attends Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  He has missed 6 days based on his schedule.  His family will be credited for 1 day.  This will be the inclement weather policy effective immediately and moving forward.  It will be added it to the handbook and contracts for next year.

 

Please be aware that I am NOT going to credit ANY accounts until the winter weather has finished.  So if this affects you, you will see a credit to your MAY/JUNE invoice.

As always, thank you for choosing Smarty Pants.  I do understand that winter weather can wreak havoc on your plans, but we cannot control the weather.

• Smarty Pants follows the FCPS schedule. 

 

• Smarty Pants will be CLOSED when Frederick County Schools are CLOSED due to inclement weather.

 

• If FCPS is closed for inclement weather, SMARTY PANTS WILL BE CLOSED!

 

• If FCPS opens (one or two hours) late due to inclement weather, Smarty PANTS WILL OPEN AT 11:00am.

 

• If FCPS closes early due to inclement weather, Smarty Pants will also close early.

 

• Smarty Pants closing announcements will be made via email and announced on Facebook.

 

• If your family misses FIVE days or fewer there will be NO adjustments to paid tuition.

 

• If your family misses more than FIVE days in a school year, SP will credit you for the days beyond five due to an excessive amount of missed days.  For example, Tommy attends Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  He has missed 6 days based on his schedule due to FCPS Inclement Weather closings.  His family will be credited for 1 day.

 

• If your family is due an Inclement Weather Tuition Credit, it will be applied to the May/June Invoice.

 

• There will be no make-up days for inclement weather closings. 

 

• Smarty Pants will not add days onto the end of the year, even if FCPS does.
