Smarty Pants Preschool is dedicated to providing the best learning environment for the social, emotional and academic development of all children. Our preschool program is based on a balance between play and teacher-directed learning.  Our daily schedule is consistent, structured and offers child directed decision making.  Our multi-age classroom model offers many developmental benefits.  We strongly believe that learning isn't about a specific age, it is about a pace and a stage of development. 

 

We value and teach a respect for the natural world.   Smarty Pants gives children the nature they need, while fully preparing them for school. Our students have the opportunity to explore and learn about the natural world in a risk-managed environment.  Our natural play area is full of plants, trees, logs, and stumps to create a stimulating environment that our students learn to peacefully coexist alongside the natural world.

 

Our facility is rich with a strong history of educating children since the 1800’s.  Our building is the original one room school house for Ijamsville, MD.   We are conveniently located five minutes from Urbana, New Market and Frederick.
