EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN:

FIRE:

In the event of a fire, we have two escape routes planned.  First, we exit as a group through the front door, walk to the left down the ramp, across the black top and then meet at tree between the two fences.

The second means of escape is out the back door, across the black top and then meet at tree between the two fences.

Fire drills are conducted and recorded monthly so that the children learn safe ways to exit in case of emergency.  We practice safe methods to escape smoke and fire.

TORNADO:

In the event of a tornado, we go to the lowest most Ainner@ room in the building (the window-less bathroom) and wait for signs of weather to clear.

POWER OUTAGES:

In the event of a power outage, Children will remain in care.  We have flashlights readily accessible.  However, if the power will be out for an extended period of time, especially in extreme cold or heat, when we are dependent on electricity for heat and AC, parent/guardian will be called to pick up the child.

FIELD TRIPS:

While on field trips, staff will bring a first aid kit to use for minor injuries.  Included in the first aid kit are all emergency information cards for each child.  We will also have a cell phone.
